ASM STUDY TOUR REPORT.pdf

With a grant from the Australian Government through the Minerals and Energy for Development Alliance (MEfDA), a collaboration between the University of Western Australia and the University of Queensland, Australia, ACEMP has contributed to the benchmarking process of Uganda’s mining sector to those of other countries in the Region by taking a multi-stakeholder group of 20 individuals consisting of policy makers, decision makers and ASM practitioners on an exposure visit to the mining areas of Rwanda for them to learn how the Rwanda government has managed to successfully organize, regulate and formalize artisanal mining.

This report gives details of the exposure visit citing key lessons from Rwanda’s mining sector and the implementation strategies of the participants through their return to work plans.
